Many articles have been written about the importance of libraries. But as with any story, a visual representation carries a much bigger impact. I urge you, take ten minutes and watch this video about public libraries in NYC. And I dare you not to cry.
“I’ve been facilitating the merger of the Historic Old Sacramento Foundation (Sacramento History Museum) and the Sacramento History Foundation (City and County Archives and Collections) for the City of Sacramento. Last night I led a focus group for them. The guy sitting to my right was [name removed] from SPL. I asked him if he had worked with [Manya]. He seemed surprised that I asked and then said, “What a loss for us when she left…she did such amazing things in the short time she was here…she really made a lasting impact.””
